Metabolic Psychiatry

Specialist metabolic psychiatry and nutritional mental health support in London

Our Metabolic Psychiatry Unit takes a different approach to understanding and treating mental health, one that explores the connection between brain function, energy metabolism and physical health.

We know that for many people, standard treatments only go so far. If you have tried medication or therapy without achieving full recovery, it may be worth exploring whether metabolic and biological factors are playing a role. This includes examining how nutrition, energy metabolism, inflammation, sleep and lifestyle may be influencing mood, cognition and emotional regulation.

Our approach is evidence-informed, medically supervised and highly personalised. We combine psychiatry, neuroscience and metabolism to build a clear picture of each individual and design a plan that is safe, practical and tailored to their life.

As part of this work, we offer KetoMind, our structured programme applying ketogenic metabolic therapy to mental health, delivered by a dedicated team of psychiatrists and a specialist dietitian.

Who this is for

Metabolic Psychiatry may be worth exploring if you are:

  • Living with treatment-resistant depression or mood difficulties

You have tried antidepressants or other treatments, but your symptoms haven’t improved and you want to understand why.

  • Experiencing ongoing anxiety that hasn’t responded to treatment

Persistent anxiety that remains despite therapy or medication, and that may have a biological or metabolic component.

  • Managing bipolar disorder or complex mood conditions

Looking for an integrative approach that works alongside your existing treatment to improve stability and reduce episodes.

  • Interested in the role of nutrition in mental health

Curious about how what you eat affects how you feel and wanting expert, medically supervised guidance rather than guesswork.

  • Concerned about metabolic health alongside mental health

Noticing that physical factors like energy, weight, inflammation, blood sugar seem connected to how your mental health fluctuates.

  • Seeking a more integrative or biological approach

Wanting to go beyond symptom management and explore what may be driving your difficulties at a deeper level.

We support individuals with:

“We explore how factors such as nutrition, energy, inflammation and lifestyle can influence mood, cognition and emotional wellbeing. We then aim to translate complex scientific insights into clear, practical guidance that each person can apply in their everyday life.”
