Our Specialist Units

One clinic, working as integrated units. Each unit brings together psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists and other practitioners around one area of care, so the person you see has colleagues who see the same problems every week.

Specialist Units

Our Child & Adolescent Mental Wellbeing Unit is a specialist service built around the needs of young people and their families, bringing together psychiatrists, psychologists and specialist practitioners.

We understand that when a young person is struggling, the whole family feels it. Whether you’re a parent who has noticed changes in your child and isn’t sure what to do next, or a young person looking for support yourself, we’re here to help you make sense of what’s happening and find a way forward.

Our approach is compassionate, developmentally informed and tailored to each child. We take into account not just their symptoms, but the full context of every young person’s life. This includes everything from family, school, and friendships to hobbies and social media.

We work with children from early childhood through to young adulthood. Whether you’re seeking an assessment, a diagnosis, or ongoing support through therapy or other approaches, we can help.

At the London Psychiatry Clinic, our ADHD & Neurodiversity Unit brings together psychiatrists, psychologists and specialist practitioners with deep experience in ADHD, autism, AuDHD and related conditions.

We see many people who arrive having spent years feeling misunderstood, or simply wondering why certain things feel harder than they seem to for everyone else. If that’s you (or your child), you’re in the right place.

Many of our clinicians are neurodivergent themselves, or have neurodivergent family members, which shapes how we approach every assessment and care plan.

We work with children, young people and adults. Whether you’re exploring a possible diagnosis for the first time, or looking for specialist input on medication, therapy, coaching or other approaches, we can help you find a way forward.

Our Medicolegal Unit provides independent psychiatric assessments and expert witness reports for legal proceedings, delivered to the highest professional standard.

Our psychiatrists have decades of combined medicolegal experience across civil, criminal, family and immigration proceedings. We understand that instructing solicitors and legal teams need reports that are thorough, clearly reasoned, and produced efficiently and we have built our service around those requirements.

All reports are prepared by consultant psychiatrists with relevant specialist expertise, and are written to meet the standards required by the Civil Procedure Rules and the Criminal Procedure Rules. We provide assessments in London, Birmingham, and at other locations nationwide including home visits where required.

Our Neuromodulation & TMS Unit offers non-invasive brain stimulation treatments for mental health conditions and general wellbeing. Neuromodulation is an advanced medical field that uses non-invasive technology to alter or regulate nerve activity by delivering targeted stimulation directly to the brain, spinal cord, or peripheral nerves.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is the most extensively researched and evidence-based neuromodulation technique. TMS is a non-invasive treatment that uses precisely targeted magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain involved in mood, emotional regulation and cognitive function. TMS is recommended by NICE for treatment-resistant depression, and a growing body of evidence supports its use in other conditions including obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and binge eating.

Our TMS programme is led by Professor Valerie Voon, Professor of Neuropsychiatry and Neuromodulation at the University of Cambridge, whose research has directly shaped the protocols we use. We offer several evidence-based TMS protocols for depression and OCD, as well as a TMS Exomind device designed for wellness and performance applications.

All treatments are delivered in a safe, structured environment following a comprehensive psychiatric assessment, and are integrated into a broader treatment plan tailored to your individual needs.

Our Metabolic Psychiatry Unit takes a different approach to understanding and treating mental health, one that explores the connection between brain function, energy metabolism and physical health.

We know that for many people, standard treatments only go so far. If you have tried medication or therapy without achieving full recovery, it may be worth exploring whether metabolic and biological factors are playing a role. This includes examining how nutrition, energy metabolism, inflammation, sleep and lifestyle may be influencing mood, cognition and emotional regulation.

Our approach is evidence-informed, medically supervised and highly personalised. We combine psychiatry, neuroscience and metabolism to build a clear picture of each individual and design a plan that is safe, practical and tailored to their life.

As part of this work, we offer KetoMind, our structured programme applying ketogenic metabolic therapy to mental health, delivered by a dedicated team of psychiatrists and a specialist dietitian.

Our Women’s Health & Hormones Unit provides specialist support for the emotional and psychological effects of hormonal changes at every stage of a woman’s life.

Hormones have a profound effect on how we feel. They influence our mood, energy, sleep, anxiety levels, and sense of self, which can all shift with the natural transitions of the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, the postnatal period, perimenopause and menopause. For many women, these changes are more than just physical. They can be confusing, distressing, and are often dismissed or misunderstood by those around them and sometimes by healthcare professionals too.

We understand that hormonal and mental health are deeply connected, and that neither can be fully addressed without the other. Our approach is compassionate, thorough and personalised. We take into account your medical history, life circumstances and what matters most to you in your care.

Whether you are in the middle of something acute, or trying to make sense of something that has been building for a long time, we’re here to listen and help.

Our Trauma Unit provides specialist support for people who have been through a deeply difficult experience. Whether that’s a single traumatic event, a pattern of difficult experiences over time, or something that happened in childhood that still affects you today.

Trauma can show up in many different ways. For some people it’s vivid and overwhelming, with flashbacks, nightmares, and a constant sense of dread. For others it’s quieter, a feeling of being disconnected, struggling in relationships, or not quite understanding why certain things feel so hard. Many people live with the effects of trauma for years without ever putting a name to it.

We work at your pace. Before anything else, we focus on helping you feel safe and understood. Our team brings together clinical expertise and genuine compassion, and we take the time to understand your story, not just your symptoms.

You don’t need a diagnosis to reach out. If something from your past is making your present harder, we’re here to help.

Our Addictions Unit brings together psychiatrists, psychologists and specialist therapists with extensive experience supporting people through substance and behavioural addictions.

We understand that addiction is rarely about the substance or behaviour alone. Most people we see are managing something underneath it. Stress, trauma, anxiety, low mood, or a pattern that began as a way of coping and became harder to control over time. You don’t have to understand it fully to reach out. Many people come to us unsure of where to start.

Our approach is holistic, evidence-based and tailored to each individual. We focus not just on reducing or stopping the behaviour, but on understanding what is driving it and supporting lasting change. Our holistic treatment plans include a combination of psychiatric expertise, psychological therapy and behavioural strategies.

All assessments and treatment are confidential. We work with adults seeking support for themselves, and with families who are concerned about someone they love.

Our General Adult Psychiatry Unit brings together consultant psychiatrists and specialists with extensive experience across a wide range of mental health conditions affecting adults.

We see many people who come to us when things have started to feel overwhelming, unclear or difficult to manage on their own, and whether symptoms have developed recently or have been present for some time. Taking the step to seek help is often the hardest part. We aim to make what comes next as straightforward as possible.

Our approach is thorough, collaborative and personalised. We take time to understand your history, current experiences and wider context. We can offer a clear clinical picture and a treatment plan that addresses both immediate concerns and longer-term wellbeing.

Whether you are looking for an assessment, a diagnosis, a second opinion, or ongoing support through medication, therapy or a combination of approaches, we can help.

Supporting mental health, independence and quality of life in later life

Our Psychiatry of Later Life Unit provides specialist assessment and support for the mental health needs of older people, including those living with dementia, depression, anxiety, cognitive change and complex presentations linked to physical health or life circumstances.

Later life can bring both meaningful opportunities and real challenges. Changes in health, memory, independence or relationships can have a profound effect on emotional wellbeing and day-to-day functioning. These changes often go unaddressed, or are put down simply to ageing.

Our approach is compassionate, thorough and personalised. We take the time to understand each person’s medical history, psychological needs and social context, offering clear guidance and tailored support that promotes dignity, independence and quality of life.

We also work closely with families and carers, recognising how much they carry and how much they can benefit from guidance and support themselves.
