Dr Natalia Wielgosz

Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist

I’m a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with over a decade of clinical experience. I support children and young people  who are struggling with their mental health. I aim to create a space where they feel safe, understood and are able to talk openly.

I have worked across a wide range of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). This has included working in various community CAMHS teams including National and Specialist teams for eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD) and body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) ,pediatric liaison team as well as child and adolescent inpatient care. Through this experience, I have developed a deep understanding of the different pressures young people can face, whether they are struggling at home, school, or with their own thoughts and feelings.

I take time to listen, reduce fear and confusion, and involve families in a way that feels supportive and respectful. My goal is to help each young person feel more grounded and to work with them, step by step, towards feeling stronger and more in control.

My approach

Personalised Care for Young People

I offer a calm and supportive space where young people can talk openly about what they’re going through. I take time to understand their emotions, relationships, school life, and strengths so that care feels personal and manageable. My goal is to help each young person feel safer, more grounded, and more confident in themselves.

Eating Disorders

My work in a national and specialist eating disorders service has helped me to understand the pressures young people face around food, body image, and control. I treat anorexia, binge eating disorder and Bulimia. I focus on steady, compassionate support that involves families and helps young people rebuild trust in their bodies.

OCD, BDD and related disorders

Through my work in a national and specialist service, I have supported young people struggling with obsessive thoughts and body image concerns. I take a calm and non-judgemental approach, helping them understand their experiences and develop safer, more manageable ways to cope.

Supporting Complex Mental Health Needs and deliberate self harm

My experience leading an Early Intervention in Psychosis pathway and working in adolescent inpatient care has helped me to assess and support young people with complex or emerging symptoms. I explain things clearly and involve families so everyone understands the next steps. I also have experience of working with young people who struggle with self harm thoughts or engage in acts of deliberate self harm.

Skills-Based and Supportive Approaches

I draw on my experience in providing different approaches to supporting young people including  Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills to help young people manage distress and intense emotions. I also work closely with families and schools to make sure support feels consistent and meaningful.
